To join the VPFA, or renew your membership, please complete our membership form:

Standard membership is £25 and Reduced membership* is £10. Membership is due for renewal annually on 31st May.

*The reduced rate is available for members who are not in full-time employment, including students, postgraduate researchers, unwaged members, those who have retired and those experiencing financial hardship.

There are three ways of paying:

  1. PayPal – the easiest option for international members and one-off membership payments (links below).
  2. Direct into our bank account – the easiest option to set up a standing order for renewable membership (more detailed payment instructions can be found in the attached form).
  3. Cheque – if you would like to pay by cheque, please email us at vpfamembership@gmail.com.

Membership fee waiver for financial hardship
The VPFA is committed to making membership accessible to all and tries to keep membership fees as fair as possible. Nonetheless, we recognise that any fee may be difficult to meet at times. If that is the case, fee waivers are available for members currently experiencing financial hardship on a year-by-year basis. 
 
If you are unable to pay the reduced membership fee, please contact us confidentially to request a waiver. No detailed financial information or evidence is required; requests will be considered sensitively and on a case-by-case yearly basis by the VPFA Membership Secretary, Treasurer and/or President. The VPFA reserves the right to remove the fee waive for financial hardship at any point.
 
Tax relief on your VPFA membership
The Victorian Popular Fiction Association is an HMRC-approved learned society (List 3). If VPFA membership is relevant to your employment, you may be able to claim tax relief on your annual membership subscription.
If you pay UK income tax and have paid the membership fee yourself, you can claim through HMRC. Keep your VPFA membership receipt as evidence of payment.
