Networking and Development Coordinator
The purpose of the role:
To seek out, share, coordinate and create opportunities for VPFA members of all career levels and backgrounds to network with each other, as well as with members of other Learned Societies, academics and experts.
To identify and facilitate access to training and development opportunities that will benefit VPFA members.
To help maintain and evolve an environment in which VPFA members of all career stages and backgrounds feel welcome and supported.
To find out about, and support, the needs of VPFA members at all career stages and from all backgrounds (including PGT and PGR students, ECRs, independent scholars, senior academics, heritage sector, etc.).
Duties may include (but are not limited to):
– Arranging, helping others to arrange, or making members aware of networking opportunities such as reading groups, social event s (e.g. online coffee mornings), research seminars, conferences and workshops.
– Arranging, helping others to arrange, or making members aware of opportunities for training and development such as workshops, conferences, information sessions, etc.
– Finding and sharing information about relevant funding calls, job vacancies, training sessions, workshops, conferences, etc.
– Undertaking enquiries into what VPFA members of all career stages and backgrounds feel will support their development as academics and/or specialists in Victorian Popular Fiction.
It is expected that the majority of the role will involve seeking out, gathering and sharing information, as well as facilitating training and development sessions run by others. There is, however, scope for the N&D Coordinator to run events themselves if they wish to do so, and have the relevant expertise.
The person(s) in this role will work closely with the rest of the Executive Committee, especially the Social Media Team, the Annual Conference Team, the VPFA Secretary and the Events Co-ordinators, in order to share relevant information with the VPFA Membership.
